What do you think, if your child is too backward in the context of manners? and if you are in this place something like

DINING ETTIQUTES –

Whether you are eating at home, dining out, or having dinner with friends, good table manners for kids are an important part of every meal. When you teach your child good manners, you are giving them important tools for social interactions that will serve them for the rest of their life.

 

1) TABLE MANNERS FOR LITTLE KIDS –

 

a)COME  TO  THE  TABLE  WITH  HANDS  AND  FACE  CLEAN –

You should teach your children that before coming in front of the other people at the dining table, it is required to teach them to wash their hands and clean face properly.

It shows not only respect to others who are sitting in front of you but also that person who has prepared the meal. It also shows how these kids are aware about their health and hygiene and like neat and cleanliness.

b)WAIT UNTIL   EVERYONE IS   SERVED   BEFORE EATING –

The kids, who are of having the kind of etiquettes like who just wait for the food to eat until others have started, it shows how patient your child is? Also how your child has the quality to think about others before himself/herself?

c)CHEW YOUR MOUTH CLOSED –

Teach them while eating or chewing, their lips should be closed. Tell them if you don’t do how it looks awkward and which type of sound comes that time, you can tell them by experiment. How it will be embarrassing to see others do such kind of activity, tell them frankly.

d) AVOID STUFFING YOUR MOUTH –

It is also necessary to notice that if you are stuffing your mouth with food, it looks so awkward. It shows you can’t afford good food at your home and you are too hungry and nobody teaches you about these bad manners. Moreover, it is wrong scientifically, as it can block your food pipe which can be fatal.

e) REMEMBER YOUR MANNERS/SLOW YOUR SPEED –

Always take your food with slow-medium speed. It is disgusting when you take your meal speedily and finish quickly. or taking more foods again and again. You should not only do your eating speed slow but you should take a small bite also along with less quantity of food on your plate.

Moreover, you should take less bite too. Teach them, try to eat less especially in public. Well, this habit should be at your home too. Never eat like you have to fill your stomach, it will deteriorate your health too.

When you are asking to pass the food or you are passing the food to others than it is required to say some manner words like ‘please’,’ like’,’ thank you’.

f) USE UTENSILS AND NAPKIN –

Always keep your napkin on your lap, so that if food quantity falls, it should be on the napkin, while eating. Try to keep your arms on your lap, not on the table.

Don’t make the sound of your cutlery and crockery while eating the food. Tell them not to eat with finger and how to hold folk, knife and spoon etc.

Teach them not to wipe their hands and mouth with their clothes.

g) REFRAIN FROM CRITICISING THE FOOD –

Whatever you feel the taste of food, you should always thankful for the host and the meal too and appreciate especially who prepared the food at the time of seeing off.

2) TABLE MANNERS FOR BIGGER KIDS –

 

 

a)OFFER TO HELP –

Whether your child is at your home or in someone’s house, always teach your child to get ready for help to anyone in preparing the meal(not only in dining etiquette but also in a general way).

They can do many things like serving water, pouring water, putting the napkin on the dining table, arranging the crockeries and giving some required utensils. If your child is a teenager than he/she can help you by cooking some dishes.

b) WATCH THE HOST TO SEE WHEN YOU SHOULD UNFOLD YOUR NAPKIN-

See the host if they put the napkin on their lap, its a clear signal to you to put your napkin on your lap. Do not put your napkin on the table, you should keep it on your lap.

c) AVOID INTERRUPTING WHEN SOMEONE ELSE IS TALKING-

If they watch elders talking with each other, it is required not to interrupt them nor to pull their attention toward self.

d)ASK SOMEONE TO PASS ITEMS TO YOU INSTEAD OF REACHING-

Teach them, if you want some meal, instead of reaching on those dishes (you are standing there and dragging your hands), which looks awkward. Ask the others and request them to pass the particular dishes.

e) ASK TO BE EXCUSED-

It is very important to not to finish your meal so early. You should do your eating speed moderately. However, if you have finished your meal early, so it is required to wait until other finished their meal.

If you have finished your meal and they see, still the elders are talking with each other, even after finishing the meal. they should take excuse from them.

f) PUSH YOUR CHAIR IN WHEN FINISHED-

 

It is required to push the chair back against the table when you have finished your meal.

g) PICK YOUR PLATE-

Normally you should teach your kids at your home to pick their plate when they have eaten food, it looks good if kids have such kind of habit. When you are in someone’s home they should maintain this habit there. 

h) AVOID USING ELECTRONICS AT THE TABLE-

it is a very bad habit to see and watch electronic device while eating.it looks awkward to see. some children play games and do message while eating. it is the duty of the elders to prevent such kind of habit.

 Make the habit of your kids to talk about interesting things like news, general knowledge about the school, friends etc.
